This is an exceptional project combining Hanna Krall's narrative with drawings by Zbigniew Libera — one of the most important contemporary Polish artists. From this combination emerges an image of a world in which memory is both a duty and a curse. The book will be published on March 25 by Znak Literanova.
The meeting with Hanna Krall and Zbigniew Libera will be hosted by Mariusz Szczygieł. Fragments of the book „You Don't Say Things Like That” will be read by Magdalena Cielecka. The event is part of the "Book at the Museum" series.
About the book: A book for the brave. How to learn the truth that is difficult to ask about? Who interrogates Hanna Krall? Why is it precisely her who must file reports? Is it because she has always been a truthful reporter? Krall reports factually and meticulously, and she expects attentiveness from her listener — to notice what is important but hidden in the details. Masterful journalistic miniatures about past and recent events tell of an experience that holds room for humor and fear, wonder and sadness, despair and hope. "You Don't Say Things Like That" is an honest and intimate conversation that continues long after the book is closed and calls to be revisited.
