Come to Wolny Jazdów to talk about climate, meet people, and spend time together! Wolno o klimacie is a series of open meetings about broadly understood issues of climate, environment, and ecology. What is it about? It's about creating a space for honest and open conversations in a diverse group; meetings of people thinking about and working on climate in various ways, often unknown to us; building a community of people for whom these matters are important. At the second meeting, we will focus on language and communication around climate. Is there too much "fear-mongering," or perhaps - given the scale of challenges - is it still too "gentle"? How can we overcome the barrier of technical language and concepts that no one uses in everyday conversations? We will also consider the significance of who speaks about climate and to whom, and how this affects the quality and effectiveness of communication. Why "slowly" about climate? We will meet at Wolny Jazdów, where this word takes on all its meanings simultaneously. - Slowly - meaning at a slow pace. Public debate, where the goal is to "destroy" the opponent and the tools are hot takes, clickbait, and fake news, is becoming increasingly dysfunctional. We won't fix this with such meetings, but we will create a space for talking in a different way. Slowly, without chasing after the latest thing, with time for reflection. - Slowly - meaning it's allowed. Climate or ecology are becoming "ugly" words, and politicians increasingly want to avoid them. Here, it's allowed to talk about them. It's allowed to talk about fears of climate change; about hopes and doubts; it's also allowed not to talk, but just to listen. - Slowly - meaning freedom. The meeting has no rigid framework - we decide on-site what it should look like, what we want, and what we don't. We have the freedom to talk about what we want, the freedom to build community, the freedom to support each other.
