We are about to see a one-woman show, which Anna Seniuk calls a “sit-down stand-up.”
The inspiration for the monodrama was the book “The Book of Herbs” by Sándor Márai, a Hungarian prose writer, in which the author noted his thoughts, reflections and guidelines. The book resembles an old herbal, which with simple but apt observations heals the soul and heart.
Anna Seniuk used this form as a starting point for a personal and moving story about her career (which has lasted 60 years!) and about life. The performance is enriched by poetic texts of the most outstanding Polish authors: Zbigniew Herbert, Tadeusz Różewicz, Wisława Szymborska and Anna Świrszczyńska. In Seniuk’s masterful performance these works acquire a new, deeply human dimension.
It is a meeting with a great actress who, with grace, self-irony and humour, talks about what matters most – about love, art, loneliness and faith. The performance is not only an artistic experience but also an intimate conversation – wise, moving, and at the same time full of life and humour.
