Wassim Ibrahim solo | ECHOES OF UGARIT - musical solstice | songs from clay tablets | Strefa ORIENT vol. 14 | concert - meeting - refreshments

Admission:
- Online tickets: 65 zł — https://bit.ly/3ZWIq4u
- Tickets on the day (door): 80 zł

From the depths of millennia, from clay tablets recorded by the sea, songs will return to us carrying the prayer of the first human, the whisper and clamor of ancient cities. This is not just a concert, but a journey through centuries. Sound meets the memory of the earth, and Ugarit awakens from silence to speak once more. An evening in which the boundary between past and present blurs. It falls silent so that it can speak: eternity.

We also invite you to a meeting before the performance — let us listen to stories about Ugarit: its history and the ancient songs recorded on clay tablets. While waiting for the music, let us gather in an atmosphere of warmth and community, sampling Syrian sweets with a cup of Damascene tea.

Performer:
- Wassim Ibrahim – vocals, oud

Wassim Ibrahim began his musical journey at the age of six, playing the flute and lute. From 1990 to 1996 he continued learning the Arabic lute under Fayez Zahe Aldin. In 2005 he began studies in Harmony and Counterpoint led by Prof. Bella Tagezieva at the High Institute of Music (Faculty of Theory and Composition) in Damascus, which he completed in 2010. He came to Poland in 2013, and in 2015 obtained a master's degree in compositional studies at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków (under the supervision of Prof. Józef Rychlik). In 2019 he defended a doctorate in musical composition also at the Kraków Academy (collaboration with Prof. Wojciech Widłak). From 2010 to 2013 he was a teacher at the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus (teaching music history and conducting classes in harmony and ear training). He has been a visiting lecturer at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Viterbo University, La Crosse (Wisconsin, USA) and the University of Wisconsin. Since September 2023 he has been a lecturer in ethnic music at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków. Since 2015 he has led the amateur choir Chór w Kontakcie, which he founded and which in 2020 was honored with the title Kraków Ambassador of Multiculturalism A.D. 2019.
