Hello, young explorers! Would you like to peek where the snow crunches underfoot like broken glass, the air stings your cheeks, and white stretches to the horizon? We invite you to Antarctica — Mateusz Waligóra’s story about the coldest continent.

Prepare for 1,200 kilometers of skiing and a tale full of fascinating facts about Antarctica, solitary expeditions, and how to prepare for such a journey so you don’t lose your way, don’t freeze, and return home safely. Just in case, put on warm socks.

    Program:

    • A short conversation with Mateusz Waligóra (approx. 20 minutes), hosted by Dominik Szczepański.
    • Art workshops for children aged 6+ led by Joanna Czaplewska (approx. 40 minutes). During the workshops, children will design their own dream expedition skis and, with the help of the authors, "compile" the items needed for the journey.

    Questions we will address:

    • Who really discovered Antarctica?
    • What secrets lie beneath the four-kilometer layer of ice?
    • Is it possible that Antarctica was once green?
    • Is it better to go to the pole on skis or by dog sled?
    • What superpowers do penguins have?
    • How many whales are there in the world?
    • And who actually owns Antarctica?

    About the authors and hosts:

Mateusz Waligóra – traveler, photographer and guide, specializing in extreme expeditions; he crossed the Gobi Desert alone, traversed Greenland on skis, climbed Mount Everest and reached the South Pole. He wrote, among others, the book TREK. From Dream to Adventure.

Dominik Szczepański – traveler and journalist, author and co-author of books, he has reported on expeditions and described climate change from Antarctica. He transcribed Mateusz’s account of Antarctica.

Joanna Czaplewska – illustrator and graphic designer, author of illustrations in many children’s books; she will lead the art workshops.
