Art workshops inspired by collage and zine art, underground independent publishing, and contemporary art. During the meeting you can try to create your own artistic statement using the simplest tools: newspapers, scissors, glue and a photocopier.
Zines are independent publications that attempted to break the press’s monopoly on the printed word and information. We will try to break the monopoly of officially published books typically collected in libraries in favor of an eclectic, creative collection of collage-zine work.
📅
Meetings will take place every second Monday of the month. The themes of collages and zines will be inspired by various ideas, books and cultural domains.
February’s meeting will focus on ice. We will be inspired by the book Mer de Glace by Małgorzata Lebda and Andri Snær Magnason’s On Time and Water. We will listen to the sound of melting glaciers, look for inspiration in black and white, confront glaciation in interpersonal relationships and thawing in the context of the climate catastrophe. Ice can be, as in Dukaj’s novel, a capacious metaphor and a concrete phenomenon.
The workshop will be led by Piotr Malinowski, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, a graphic artist and creator of music and video art.
The workshops are intended for adults. Experience or special skills are not necessary.
The meeting is part of the ECO LIBRARY project.
