Just before the applause or after the baton is raised. Extended by a fermata or as tiny as a short breath. Silence, break, pause. Can it be loud? Does it have a melody? Does it always mean rest, or on the contrary – great tension? We will try to find answers to these questions while exploring works by, among others, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giacomo Puccini, and Stanisław Moniuszko, as well as contemporary composers. We will hear silence full of sounds in various forms and with many voices – on stage, on the balcony, in the audience, and backstage, as the several-member Vocal Ensemble of the Polish Royal Opera will perform. Along the way, we will learn about the role of the choir in an opera, and maybe even create our own ad hoc choir...? But for now – shhhhhh...! Workshops intended for school groups (ages 9-12).
