The Feast of Jordan, or the Renewal of the Baptism of the Lord - January 19 - Sunday.
Departure from Warsaw around 7 AM
We arrive at 10 AM.
The ceremonies begin at the church of 'St. Spirit'
After the mass, the priest leads a colorful procession through the streets of Drohiczyn and descends to the banks of the Bug River. There, a hole in the ice shaped like a Cross is cut, where the priest solemnly immerses the cross. During this time, those willing can also immerse themselves in the water to renew their baptism. (Although usually, there are few volunteers)
There is also the release of doves of peace, as a symbol of the Holy Spirit.
After the ceremonies, we go to the observation tower.
We visit the Diocesan Museum.
Then we go for lunch (you can order regional 'zaguby' or 'załuby,' which is potato cake with pieces of smoked meat.)
After lunch, coffee, and dessert, we go to see the undergrounds of the church with the crypts.
Then an evening walk and the opportunity to see the motorcycle and car museum.
Perhaps the theater in Drohiczyn will be staging the play 'Frolics with the Devil,' as it has in previous years. It is also worth seeing. We have always been invited as honored guests. Of course, for free.
We finish everything around 7 PM.
Then return to Warsaw.
