The action of the drama takes us to the gate of the Powązki Cemetery. Not without reason are the 'Osmędeusze' called 'contemporary Dziady': here we meet Wianczarki, who, with their memories and courtyard songs, somehow summon the spirits of strange figures from the past.
Pre-war Warsaw, described by Miron Białoszewski in 'Osmędeuszach,' pulsates with dance and song. The world of petty thieves, street vendors, circus artists, and beggars is incredibly surprising and amusing. In the fair-like, essential atmosphere of Warsaw's streets, the routine of everyday life subtly creeps in... Five actors embody eighteen characters. Each of them tells their version of the tragic love story of Teosia and the juggler Sylwester.
What is extraordinary about Osmędeusze? There is love, there are hopes, dreams, but also transience and death. There is life.
