We invite you to a trekking through Kampinos National Park. What awaits us on that day? Our route will lead in the first stage from Famułki Brochowskie, through the legendary Bromierzyk, to Granica. At the border, there will be a bonfire waiting for us, and we will visit the newly opened museum! In the second stage, we will head towards Narty – Zamczysko – Górki. The total distance to cover is about 18 km.

PROGRAM:
Gathering of participants on January 11, 2025 (Saturday) at 7:30 AM, in front of the Palace of Culture and Science, in the parking lot opposite the Kinoteka. Departure towards Famułki at 7:35 AM. Return to Warsaw is planned for around 6:00 PM.
The walk will be led by Maciek (on the nature of Kampinos and forms of protection) and Adrian (on stories from Kampinos)
What we will see and what we will tell you tonight:
👉 Wolves and Moose – during the walk, we will try to teach you to distinguish animal tracks (maybe by some miracle it will snow), and we will talk about the biology of the daily lives of these (and not only these) mammals. Just to name a few, we mention the wolf, the largest predator in the park, and the moose, the largest of the mammals.
👉 Bromierzyk – the legendary village of 'hanging men' with a brick chapel of St. Teresa. Here we will tell you about the process of the village's disappearance and the expansion of the area of Kampinos National Park. Dealing with the myth of the village of hangmen (without hangmen), we will talk about who haunts in Bromierzyk (maybe we will scare someone too)
👉 Granica – another village that exists in memories, on old maps and photographs. At the cemetery of Polish soldiers who fell in 1939, we will tell you about the battle on the outskirts of Warsaw, but also about why among the fallen there are soldiers unknown by name.
👉 Bonfire with catering (sausage, we will also provide something to roast for vegetarian participants, coffee, tea, and forest tinctures)
👉 Museum in Granica – here we will visit the newly opened education center of Kampinos National Park.
👉 Narty – we will visit the site of a former German labor camp, where workers (mainly Jewish) worked during World War II, among other things, on the construction of drainage canals and the border of the General Government running through the forest and the lands annexed to the Reich.
👉 Zamczysko – in the heart of the forest, we will see an early medieval refuge settlement. Here we will tell you about the history of settlement from the late Paleolithic and the time of reindeer hunters through the period of barbarian smelters from 2000 years ago to the times of princely Mazovia closer to us.
👉 Insurgent Pine – in this place, according to tradition, the 'hanging men' unit was supposed to carry out summary executions on the insurgents of 1863! We will talk about who the 'drągalierzy' were and what 1863 looked like in the Forest by the 'fallen' pine.
