👉DROHICZYN – a picturesque town located on a high, eastern bank of the Bug River. Centuries ago, it was a powerful center on the border of Poland and Ruthenia, and later Mazovia and Lithuania. Merchants from the farthest corners of the world visited the town. Destroyed by invasions of the Yotvingians, Tatars, and even the Teutonic Knights, it rose from the ashes. It is one of the coronation cities in present-day Poland. Here, in 1254, Prince Daniel Halicki received the crown from the hands of a papal legate. It was the historical capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
👉FEAST OF JORDAN – participation in the celebrations of the Feast of Jordan at the parish of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker. This feast is celebrated in memory of the baptism of Christ in the Jordan River. The Feast of Epiphany is one of the most important fixed feasts in the annual calendar. After the liturgy in the church, we will set off together with the procession to the Bug River, where the water will be blessed through the thrice immersion of the cross in the water, which in folk tradition has a special power. We will tell you about this in Drohiczyn.
👉LUNCH – with a delicacy of the Bug River cuisine, the famous 'zaguby,' and a tale about Podlaskie cooking. (for those interested, an additional cost of about 55 PLN/participant)
👉GUIDED WALK – we will visit, among others, the church of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker, Castle Hill, the cathedral, the Benedictine Church, and the former church of the Franciscans. We will tell you about the over a thousand-year history of Drohiczyn.
Price: 190 PLN/person + possible lunch costs.
We warmly invite you!!!
