FRENCH MAZURKA is an extremely popular, calm, romantic couple dance that will definitely appear at every Bal Folk dance party, practically throughout Europe.
This dance has its roots in Poland, from where it spread across Europe due to the large Polish emigration at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
In France, thanks to French dance teachers and the fashion for waltz at the time, it transformed from a lively dance into a very romantic, calm dance, full of love's ecstasy.
The Mazurka re-emerged at dance parties in France and other Western European countries in the late 1960s thanks to... hippies and the 'Revival' tradition movement.
Since then, it has gained an ever-growing number of admirers and creators who, in the spirit of old melodies, compose new beautiful pieces for dancing.
Nowadays, the 'mazurka' is increasingly danced in a 'nuovo' form, closely and sensually. The formula of dancing, following and swirling in a circle, a style in which all participants created a dance community, a common circle of dance, has been lost.
We propose a return to this older version.
During the workshops, we will master the basic steps. We will learn to swirl in the mazurka in a circle and get to know figures that will allow us to further embellish our dance. During the workshop, we will also pay attention to the relationships that occur in the dance between the dancers in pairs so that dancing together brings you as much pleasure as possible.
At the beginning of the workshops, simple Bal Folk dances in the form of processions will also appear as a warm-up.
🔳 During our workshops, you will master the steps and rules applicable in non-stage forms of traditional dance performed at dance parties, so that dancing brings you as much pleasure and joy as possible.
🔳 Our workshops can also be treated as a dance practice or fitness classes, during which we will meet new people and spend time in a pleasant atmosphere, while getting rid of unnecessary calories to traditional Polish music.
🔳 During the workshops, there will be rhythmic exercises that will help you develop a sense of rhythm, motor coordination, strengthen your physical fitness, and give your dance movements strength, fluidity, and lightness.
🔳 It will also be a large portion of inspiration, good fun, and a pleasant way to spend free time among fantastic people who come to our workshops.
🔳 It will also be an opportunity to meet interesting people, which will help you quickly find a dance partner for any occasion when traditional music is played.
