CAPTAIN FROM BEAUTIFUL COAST
paintings by Łukasz Rudnicki
Opening of the exhibition: 10.01 / 18:00 / Fort Sokolnickiego
Exhibition open until February 19, 2025
The multi-threaded painting of Łukasz Rudnicki is a combination of antagonistic motifs; irony and romanticism; wise, jester-like mockery and deep contemplation, admiration for the power of nature, youthful ecstasies – and a mocking distance towards them.
The artist engages in a game with the viewer, hinting at cultural and historical associations, yet despite the erudite clues, his paintings are primarily a multidimensional painting declaration. It consists of a fairy-tale vision of forms and light, innovative (and perverse) techniques in the service of emotional imagination, and the plastic inspiration is drawn from such diverse sources as punk music, illustrations by Tove Jansson, the painting of Lorraine and de Chirico, Steinbeck's prose, and countless films (they accompanied him while painting: he knew them by heart, so he didn't have to look at the screen).
We invite you to Fort Sokolnickiego for the Żoliborz exhibition of a painter emotionally and creatively connected to our district, a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and a long-time curator of the Exhibition Gallery on Aleja Wojska Polskiego.
