Curators – Katarzyna Broniarek-Niemczycka and Filip Niedenthal – will guide us through the exhibition, which presents over a hundred photographs from the impressive oeuvre of Romuald Broniarek, a photographer and photojournalist for the magazine 𝑃𝑟𝑧𝑦𝑗𝑎𝑧́𝑛́.

'When we started reviewing archival issues of the magazine, we were struck by the scale of deception. Nevertheless, the reception of Broniarek's photographs – a talented photographer – remains unchanged,' emphasize the curators.

Broniarek, like many photographers working during the PRL era, took photos that were meant to please the editorial staff of 𝑃𝑟𝑧𝑦𝑗𝑎𝑧́𝑛́ and be published, but also those 'unnecessary' ones, captured while realizing the main theme, in which he could allow himself greater creative freedom.

'Among the selected photographs are mainly works from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. We decided to focus on frames torn from context, captured – as if out of the corner of the eye – often on the peripheries of official events, where the author's interest in what is seemingly ordinary, everyday, yet surprising and intriguing, is visible. These are scenes photographed with humor and sensitivity, sometimes ironic, touching – and technically excellent. The collected works present Poland as it was, Poland 'by the way', often shown against the expectations of the photo commissioners,' add the curators, Katarzyna Broniarek-Niemczycka and Filip Niedenthal.

𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐳𝐲𝐧𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐤-𝐍𝐢𝐞𝐦𝐜𝐳𝐲𝐜𝐤𝐚 – a manager and communication specialist with extensive experience gained while working for many well-known brands. For over a decade, she has been leading the communication department in an international corporation. Privately, she is a close relative of Romuald Broniarek, raised on his photographs. She co-created the album 'By the Way. Unknown Photographs of Romuald Broniarek.'

𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩 𝐍𝐢𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐥 – a journalist, editor, and publisher. He served as the editor-in-chief of the Polish monthly magazines Podróże, Esquire, and Vogue. In 2022, he founded the publishing house 77 Press, which published, among others: Niedenthal. Freelancing. Poland of the 70s, Agata Bogacka. Images 2016–2022, Małgosia Bela. Winter Girl, and the autobiographical novel by Australian writer Charmian Clift, 'Take My Lotus.' Filip Niedenthal is also a co-editor and co-publisher of the album 'By the Way. Unknown Photographs of Romuald Broniarek.'
