Jul, Jól, or ġēol, is one of the most important holidays of the year in Germanic tradition. It is associated with the celebration of the community's relationships with each other and with the gods. It is the creation of a 'little summer' in the middle of winter, warmed by the heat of hearts and the home fire.

Carols (wassailing songs), New Year's resolutions (heitstrengingar), and feasting are important elements of this holiday.

The Blót will be particularly directed to Odin, whose epithet is Jólnir, as well as Freja and Njord.
