Communication is an essential element of our daily lives. Speech, language, and gestures allow us to express our thoughts, feelings, and needs. Animals cannot speak, but that does not mean that there is no form of communication in their world. On the contrary. Communication in animals takes on a very diverse form, and it all depends on the specific group or species. Our closest relatives, the great apes, use various gestures, sometimes similar to those used by humans. Other animals communicate through sounds, scents, or characteristic behaviors. Birds use their songs to mark territory, and some of them use colorful plumage to convey information. Meanwhile, scents play an important role in mammals. Many diverse signals can be conveyed through pheromones. During the Saturday walk, the communication methods of selected animal species will be discussed.
On Saturdays, the UJ Nature Education Center is open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, while the walks start at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
Individual visitors who have previously purchased an admission ticket to the CEP UJ exhibition can participate in the educational walk.
