Winter directs our thoughts towards warmer climates – we look for a woolen blanket, a hot aromatic brew, and think of peaceful evenings with family. That’s why on every 3rd weekend of the month at 1:00 PM, we invite you to aromatic walks through the greenhouses.
Dates of the walks:
November 16 and 17, 1:00 PM
December 21 and 22, 1:00 PM
“Holiday Aromas – Discovering Spices!” will take us to warmer climates both literally and metaphorically. In the garden greenhouses, like explorers and merchants of centuries past, we will search for exotic plants whose scents evoke winter and holiday evenings.
We will also talk about the history and properties of baked goods that should mature for several months before baking and several weeks after. These are the same treats we can use to decorate the Christmas tree.
During the walk, we will also peek into the historic Orangery, where the Mediterranean landscape will enchant us.
#worthknowing
I wonder if the trees we decorate around Christmas could have grown along the path of travelers who followed the star?
Do spices really come from the roots of plants?
Will we recognize the aromas of spices whose taste was once described as “peppery”?
Certainly, warm climates and warming aromas will bring us closer to the holiday 🌲 mood!
We invite you!
Time: 1:00 PM
Meeting place: Ticket office of the Botanical Garden UW (conference room)
No registration is required. However, the number of places is limited – 15 people.
