The Robert the Devil ensemble was created to develop a modern version of the most famous grand opera by Giacomo Meyerbeer (1791-1864), a German composer of Jewish descent. The opera 'Robert le Diable,' which we will hear a remix of, is considered his most important work and one of the flagship works of Romanticism, which inspired, among others, Fryderyk Chopin, Gustave Courbet, Edgar Degas, and Juliusz Słowacki.
'Robert the Devil' is a five-act opera composed by Giacomo Meyerbeer, based on the libretto by Eugène Scribe and Casimir Delavigne. Its world premiere took place on November 21, 1831, at the Paris Opera, and the Polish premiere was held on December 16, 1837, at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw.
During the concert at SPATiF, we will also see a dance performance by Monika Szpunar, with choreography drawing from notes and graphics from the time of the work's premiere.
Setting and time of action: Sicily in the Middle Ages.
Tickets: 60 pre-sale / 70 on the day of the concert
