Dance has accompanied the daily life of Greeks for centuries. It is an inseparable element of family celebrations and holidays. People dance in taverns and nightclubs, simply everywhere. Some dances are only local, while others are known to most Greeks. Joining in the communal fun is always welcome.
We invite you to Greek dance workshops led by: Irena Argiro Tsermegas, Bożena Głodkowska, and Tomasz Kozłowski, who form the Greek dance group ILIOS, established as part of the activities of the Society of Friends of Greece. They have been gaining experience for many years, including under the guidance of dancers from the famous dance theater 'DORA STRATOU' operating in Athens. They also deepen their knowledge and skills every year by participating in parties and festivals in various regions of Greece. Dance is their passion and a way to relieve daily stress.
Members of the group have been conducting dance workshops for over 20 years, mainly as part of the activities of the Dance Academy 'Here We Dance,' and they have also collaborated with many cultural centers in Warsaw (including the Mazovian Center for Culture and Art, the Ochota Culture Center OKO, and the Bemowo Culture Center).
During the workshops, participants will mainly learn circle dances from various regions of mainland Greece and the islands, as well as dances classified as urban folklore. The repertoire is rich, so everyone will definitely find something for themselves.
