What can you expect?
The training is aimed at individuals looking to expand their knowledge in the area of compulsive sexual behaviors – (CSBD – otherwise known as hypersexual disorders – HD) commonly referred to as 'sex addiction.' It is intended for those who want to work with patients affected by this group of disorders, as well as for therapists already working
with hypersexual patients who wish to broaden their knowledge and experience in this area, and for those who notice that, for example, their work methods are insufficient in the therapy of individuals with CSBD.
During the workshop, we will refer to the latest scientific research and our many years of clinical experience in the area of diagnosis and treatment of patients with CSBD, as well as research experience of the phenomenon. During the training, you will learn how to diagnose and understand both the diagnostic criteria of ICD-11 and the symptoms of patients, what methods are effective, under what conditions they are effective, and in which patient groups they are effective, and when they harm the patient.
We will critically examine the diagnostic criteria and attempts to 'fit' individuals with CSBD into the framework of addiction or other theoretical constructs. We will discuss motivational techniques that reinforce hypersexual patients' decisions to continue therapy. You will learn how to differentiate between various sexual behaviors and which therapy model to use in specific situations.
The training does not rely on the classical model of addiction therapy. It is an innovative, sex-positive approach that significantly differs from what is commonly presented in Polish-language literature and other training of this type.
During the training, we will talk about the specifics of the therapeutic contract with a patient with CSBD, what to pay particular attention to. We will present a framework proposal for a therapeutic protocol, discuss individual stages of work and therapeutic goals.
This is a practical workshop concerning case analysis, developing a therapy plan depending on which diagnostic group the patient belongs to. We will devote a lot of attention to the conceptualization of therapeutic work with individual patients, discuss the application of sex therapy techniques in individual, group, and partner therapy for patients with CSBD. During the training, there will be work in subgroups, and there will also be space for asking questions, clarifying doubts, and briefly consulting your patients.
