We invite you to an autumn micro-adventure in Upper Lusatia. On the first day of our expedition, we will visit, among others, Kliczków Castle, wrapped in colorful autumn attire. The accommodation is also extraordinary! We will spend two nights in the palace annex in Brody. Here, we will tell you about Henryk Bruhl, whom you surely associate with his palace in Warsaw, and the extraordinary history of the Swan Service. The next two days will be spent outside the borders of Poland in search of the history and culture of the Lusatian Serbs. Along the trail, we will encounter, among others, extraordinary old town ensembles, such as in Bautzen, where you can feel the pulse of a medieval city.

📌 Kliczków Castle – its history dates back to the 13th century and the reign of Bolko the Strict. It has changed owners multiple times, who have rebuilt the castle numerous times. Currently, in terms of volume, Kliczków Castle is one of the largest of its kind in Lower Silesia. Guided tour of the castle and a walk around the area.

2️⃣ Day 2, October 12, 2024 (Saturday)
📌 Breakfast, transfer to Germany.
📌 Neschwitz/Njeswačidlo – We will start our sightseeing unusually, with the Baroque period and the times of the Saxons on the Polish throne. We will visit the Sułkowski Castle in Njeswačidlo along with its adjacent gardens, where we will be surprised by the beautiful Baroque architecture and the park layout, located away from the main tourist routes.
📌 Bautzen – the historical capital of Upper Lusatia is a mirror of the history of this region. Gothic fortifications and architecture intertwine with Saxon Baroque and more modern fillings – scars from the last victorious battle of the Nazis during World War II. In the city, we will visit the Museum of the Serbs, known here as Wends, the Serbian cemetery by St. Nicholas Church, and St. Peter's Cathedral.
📌 In Bautzen, free time for a meal/coffee at your own expense, souvenirs, or further exploration of the city's nooks (about 1.5 hours).
📌 Return to the hotel, dinner.
3️⃣ Day 3, October 13, 2024 (Sunday)
📌 Breakfast, check-out from the hotel, transfer to Ostritz.
📌 Ostritz – we start the day at one of the Upper Lusatian gems – we will visit the 13th-century Cistercian monastery founded by Kunegunda Hohenstauf, wife of Czech King Wenceslaus I. While admiring the Baroque architecture of the monastery, we will tell you about its history and influence on the lives of the inhabitants of these lands, as well as experience the beautiful Baroque architecture. Interestingly, the monastery has been serving a sacred function continuously since the 13th century, and as recently as 2006, it was inhabited by several sisters.
📌 From Ostritz, we will head to Görlitz – one of the few cities of this size in eastern Germany with a still-preserved medieval urban layout. But not only that! As one of the few cities of this size in Germany, it has not been destroyed and possesses a spatial layout and monuments from all historical epochs! Along the way, we will be accompanied by one of the holy mountains of the local Slavs – Landskron – where a temple of Flins was said to have once stood. While walking through the city, we will see, among others, the 15th-century St. Peter and Paul Church – the largest hall church in Saxony and one of the most characteristic landmarks of the Old Town, monuments around the Upper and Lower Market (including the old and new town halls) and the towers of the fortification system. We will also see a bastion that houses an extremely interesting Regional Museum – illustrating the long history of Silesia and handicrafts from Wrocław, glass from the Karkonosze furnaces, ceramics from Bolesławiec, and many more.
📌 Free time in Görlitz (about 1.5 hours).
📌 From the German part, we will walk to Zgorzelec, the right-bank part until 1945. In Zgorzelec, we will conclude our expedition, admiring the classicizing building of the Municipal Cultural Center – built at the beginning of the 20th century. It was originally intended to be a monument commemorating two emperors, Wilhelm I and Friedrich III.
📌 Departure for the return journey. Planned return to Warsaw around 10:00 PM.
