“PRESENT SIMPLE / PAST CONTINUOUS” explores the temporal continuum in the context of the creative process, while highlighting the evolution of artistic language. The title refers to grammatical time structures, symbolizing the dialectic between the past and the present – from the “No Signal” cycle, which, although rooted in the past, still persists, to the most recent cycle “GRAD,” which expresses contemporary artistic practice.
The works presented in the exhibition draw inspiration from informational noise, an overload of stimuli, and the ubiquitous media and flickering screens. The “No Signal” cycle, inspired by disruptions in analog television, serves as a study of anxiety and disintegration, reflecting the chaotic and fragmentary nature of contemporary information flow. In contrast, the “GRAD” cycle brings tranquility and contemplation, in which fluid color gradients reveal a maturing artistic language, more reflective and harmonious.
The exhibition emphasizes that art, like language, is a means of communication through which the artist formulates their message to the viewer. The process of developing and perfecting this language constitutes the essence of creativity, culminating in the juxtaposition of two cycles – one being a manifestation of the past, the other representing the artist's contemporary artistic explorations.
