„Język pereł" to wystawa prac Celine Levitan, w których szycie staje się formą malarskiego myślenia. Artystka konsekwentnie mówi o swoich realizacjach jak o obrazach, mimo że powstają z tkanin, haftów oraz patchworkowych aplikacji, obficie dekorowanych cekinami, sztucznymi perłami czy plastikowymi kamieniami. Materiał nie pełni tu funkcji użytkowej — staje się tworzywem obrazu: pozwala budować kolejne warstwy przedstawienia, nasycone kolorem, światłem i znaczeniami, których artystka, jak sama podkreśla, nie byłaby w stanie osiągnąć w klasycznym medium malarskim.
Prezentowane prace powstają intuicyjnie, bez szkiców i wcześniejszych planów. Kompozycje wyłaniają się stopniowo, prowadzone przez rytm szycia, gest i skojarzenia pojawiające się w procesie twórczym. Tytuły często rodzą się dopiero pod jego koniec, kiedy obrazy zaczynają odsłaniać własną narrację. Węże, koguty, języki, perły, oczy czy kobiece postaci tworzą emocjonalny i intuicyjny język obrazów. Wszystkie prace są silnie autobiograficzne – artystka traktuje je jako zapis własnych doświadczeń, emocji, lęków, pragnień i wewnętrznych przemian.
Tytuł wystawy nawiązuje do jungowskich interpretacji perły jako symbolu transformacji: tego, co rodzi się z doświadczenia bólu, napięcia i konfrontacji z własnym wnętrzem. „Język pereł" staje się metaforą komunikowania tego, co wymyka się racjonalnemu opisowi i ujawnia się poprzez obrazy, sny oraz symbole. W twórczości Levitan ważne jest napięcie między tym, co intuicyjne i instynktowne, a tym, co ornamentalne, błyszczące i pozornie dekoracyjne. Sztuczne perły, cekiny i syntetyczne materiały nie imitują luksusu — podkreślają kruchość i iluzoryczność społecznych wyobrażeń o pięknie, kobiecości i tożsamości.
Ważnym elementem wystawy jest dwustronne monidło „Kobieca układanka / Lalka do ubierania", inspirowane papierowymi lalkami i tradycją retuszowanych portretów fotograficznych. Praca zachęca widzów do wejścia w rolę bohaterki obrazu i skonfrontowania własnego doświadczenia z perspektywą artystki. Motyw składania, ubierania i konstruowania kobiecego wizerunku staje się opowieścią o tożsamości budowanej między społecznym oczekiwaniem, cielesnością i indywidualnym doświadczeniem.
Celine Levitan (właśc. Celina Kędziera, ur. 1974) – malarka, graficzka i twórczyni obrazów tekstylnych. Absolwentka Wydziału Malarstwa Akademii Sztuk Pięknych im. Jana Matejki w Krakowie, w pracowni prof. Adama Brinckena. W ostatnich latach rozwija autorską formę szytych obrazów, łącząc doświadczenie malarskie z wieloletnią pracą z materiałem i haftem.

"The Language of Pearls" is an exhibition of works by Celine Levitan in which sewing becomes a form of pictorial thinking. The artist describes her works as paintings, although they are made from fabrics, embroidery, and patchwork applique9s lavishly decorated with sequins, faux pearls, and plastic stones. The material is not utilitarian; it becomes the medium of the image, allowing the construction of layered representations saturated with colour, light, and meaning that Levitan says she could not achieve with traditional painting.
The works are created intuitively, without sketches or prior plans. Compositions emerge gradually, guided by the rhythm of sewing, gesture, and associations arising during the creative process. Titles often appear only at the end, when the images begin to reveal their own narratives. Snakes, roosters, tongues, pearls, eyes, and female figures form an emotional and intuitive visual language. All works are strongly autobiographical — the artist treats them as records of her experiences, emotions, fears, desires, and inner transformations.
The exhibition title references the Jungian interpretation of the pearl as a symbol of transformation: that which arises from pain, tension, and confrontation with one’s inner self. "The Language of Pearls" is a metaphor for communicating what defies rational description and reveals itself through images, dreams, and symbols. In Levitane28099s work, the tension between the intuitive and the ornamental/shiny becomes important. Faux pearls, sequins, and synthetic materials do not imitate luxury but emphasise the fragility and illusory nature of societal notions of beauty, femininity, and identity.
Another important element is the double-sided monide5 "Womane28099s Puzzle / Dress-Up Doll", inspired by paper dolls and retouched photographic portraits. The object invites viewers to step into the subjecte28099s role and compare their own experience with the artiste28099s perspective. The motif of assembling and dressing a female image becomes a story about identity constructed between social expectation, corporeality, and individual experience.
Celine Levitan (born Celina Kc4 ndziera, 1974) is a painter, graphic designer, and textile artist. She graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakc3b3w, studying under Prof. Adam Brincken. In recent years she has developed her own form of stitched paintings, combining painting experience with years of working with fabric and embroidery.
