About the Polish Film Academy: The Polish Film Academy is a nationwide educational program promoting knowledge about the history of Polish cinema. As part of the PFA, classes are held for students and free listeners in cinemas and universities in many cities, including Warsaw and Łódź. Above all, it is a two-year course on the history of Polish feature films, which was inaugurated in 2009. The program, consisting of over a hundred titles and spread over four semesters, illustrates the achievements of Polish feature cinema in a wide spectrum of names, genres, and themes. The selection was based on complementary criteria: the significance of achievements and artistic explorations, as well as particularly favorable audience reception. The chronological structure of the program makes it easier to learn about the dominant trends of a given period and developmental directions. The Polish Film Academy supplements the humanities programs of higher education institutions, while also serving as a free university. It is open to all who wish to consolidate and deepen their historical knowledge of native film – wrote Dr. Rafał Marszałek, scientific consultant of the Academy. Lecturers are professors and doctors from many universities across Poland. Each class is conducted by a different person, an expert in the given topic. 𖥣 Venue: Iluzjon Cinema | Stolica Hall | Tuesdays at 5:00 PM Screenings: - ⏲︎ 7.10.2025 | 17:00 “The Noose” (1957), 96’ Lecture by Dr. Piotr Kurpiewski - ⏲︎ 14.10.2025 | 17:00 “Farewells” (1958), 97’ Lecture by Dr. habil.
