Found footage films. Montage films. Films based on archives. Whatever we call them, they all focus on one thing – working with living audiovisual memory, translating images, sounds, and words so that they reveal new meanings, play new roles, and show us something about the past and something about the present. A bit of archaeology, a bit of psychoanalysis, a bit of Lego blocks. The films presented in the series enter various archives – private and public, known and unknown – and create creative chaos within them. THE ARCHIVE STRIKES BACK, because it cannot be locked away in cans or warehouses. The originator and curator of the series is Kuba Mikurda. ✨ PROGRAM: 📅 27.11, 6 PM - “Passenger Andrzej Munk”, dir. Michał Bielawski, Poland, 2025, 80 min. After the screening, we invite you to a conversation with the film’s director Michał Bielawski, hosted by the series curator “The Archive Strikes Back” Kuba Mikurda. 🆓 Free admission, limited seats. To guarantee entry, please fill out the form on our website: https://bit.ly/Pasażer_Andrzej_Munk A documentary portrait of Andrzej Munk, the author of unforgettable films such as “Man on the Tracks”, “Eroica”, “Bad Luck”, and “Passenger”, created using unique archival materials. It’s an original look at the artistic achievements of a leading creator of the Polish Film School, illustrated with film fragments, newsreels, and photos from the rich archive of the protagonist, complemented by impressionistic stagings. The whole is bound together by an off-screen narration, built from interviews given by Andrzej Munk himself as well as his collaborators and friends, guiding us through the story of his life and work. We get to know a man immersed in history, his artistic evolution, and the emotions accompanying it. An important element of the film is previously unknown footage featuring the director, found in Polish and foreign archives. ---------------------------------------------------- Next meeting: 📅 04.12, 6 PM - “Imagined Promotion.
