Plot description:
The 1970s, Brazil under the iron grip of a military dictatorship. The brilliant scientist Marcelo (Wagner Moura) returns to his native Recife to take his son to a safe place. The sun-drenched city is on the brink of madness — during carnival people disappear, a shark with a human leg in its belly is found on a beach, and two assassins arrive in town. Marcelo crossed a dangerous mobster a few years earlier and now must hide. His life hangs by a thread.
