"Red Shields" by Has | Performative Reading

    About the event

August 29 (Friday), 6:30 PM 📍 Władysław Broniewski Museum, Dąbrowskiego Street 51 We invite you to a performative reading of Wojciech Jerzy Has's unrealized film project titled "Red Shields." The screenplay is an adaptation of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz's novel, in which the author, popular among filmmakers, used a medieval costume (the period of Poland's fragmentation) to create a universal drama of power. He also posed a question about Poland's political position in relation to the expansionist neighboring states—a question relevant both during Hitler's rise to power, when Iwaszkiewicz wrote the novel, and in the mid-1970s, when Has considered its film interpretation. The interpretation proves disturbingly relevant even today. 🎭 Featuring: - Magdalena Czerwińska - Sławomir Orzechowski - Wojciech Żołądkowicz - Sebastian Ryś - Dawid Ptak 🎬 Directed by: Aleksander Zalewski 🎵 Music by: Antoni Wojnar Free admission. The Film Foundation What's Your Story? – the main organizer of the Literary Film Festival FILMATURA.HAS 2025 (the main part of the festival will take place from September 29 to October 5 at Warsaw's Kino Luna) and the Museum of Literature in Warsaw – co-organizer of the festival, along with other partners, are honored to invite you to another event in the series leading up to the main festival.
