10th Festival of Abstract Thought 🌍 October 22-26, 2025, Jazdów Estate, Warsaw FROM THE BELLY. Body, corporeality, materiality. Program already available on the website: https://www.fma.waw.pl/ Meeting – no registration required Descent into the Wreck of the Capitalocene – Regenerative Practices from the Depths 🗓️ Sunday, 26.10.2025, 🕒 2:30–4:00 PM Rotational House of Culture We invite you on a shared journey downward – towards silence, rest, and the imagination of the benthos. The meeting, inspired by Adrienne Rich’s poem Diving into the Wreck, will be an opportunity to discuss metaphors of exhaustion and hydrofeminist ways of regaining strength in the realities of late capitalism and in the context of the “blue turn” in cultural education. We will treat the wreck as a hybrid figure – material-corporeal and technological, ambiguous, yet full of traces of what is degraded and which will become a starting point for reflection on environmental, academic, and personal crises. Immersion in water, especially its dark depths, will be proposed as an exercise in regeneration and moving beyond the logic of productivity. The meeting will be a space for seeking strategies to regain balance in thinking about the body, knowledge, and environment, as well as an attempt to read the wreck as a place to encounter what can still be saved. The lecture will be inspired by Cecylia Åsberg’s “telling about exposure” method and Anna Olszewska’s “aesthetics of withdrawal.” Speaker: - Ewelina Jarosz (she/they) – assistant professor at the Department of Media and Cultural Studies at UKEN and an artist co-creating art projects related to water.
