About the event

Dominika Olszowy „Decorative Elements of Interiors” — exhibition

Curator: Ewa Gorządek

📅 29/11/2025—29/03/2026

🕘 We invite you to the vernissage: 28/11/2025, 19:00.

“Decorative Elements of Interiors” is a story about searching for balance in a world losing stability – about care that begins with the immediate surroundings, about decorating that comes from the need for comfort, and about an attempt to regain well‑being. In Dominika Olszowy’s work, personal and emotional motifs clearly recur. They always resonate with universal themes of existential tension, fears and doubt. A cat declaims the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, furry purring clouds stand next to a cup with spilled coffee and cigarette butts in the sink. An aura of melancholic sadness accompanies Olszowy’s works, together with a good dose of absurdity and irony. The intimacy of the expression gives them authenticity. The visual form of these works, carried by surreal imagination and poetic sensitivity, builds an atmosphere of unease with a taste of mystery.

“Decorative Elements of Interiors” is also an exhibition about coping with crises. We focus on what we can influence: making ourselves comfortable in an environment that allows us to regain balance.

At the exhibition you will see, among others:

  • video works rooted in a post‑internet aesthetic,
  • spatial installations arranged from the artist’s sculptures.

Olszowy most often works with simple materials, using the existential potential of everyday objects — she unrealizes them, making them material for building a world that balances between fantasy and a charming nightmare. Her exhibitions are materialized images in which individual objects form elaborate narratives guided by the logic of theatrical imagination. The homely and surreal mood of these works makes every sensitive person feel at home here — in a world strangely familiar, yet completely unreal.
