Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Neo-Romanesque...? What is it all about? How do you recognize styles in art? How do you interpret paintings, sculptures, architecture? Were ancient sculptures austere and colorless? Who drew a mustache on the Mona Lisa? What extraordinary stories and characters are hidden behind works of art? Has anyone ever asked themselves at least one of these questions? At our meetings, we will show that art history is an extraordinary journey full of fascinating stories. Classes will be held in the form of online and in-person lectures, during which the instructor will present the most important works and movements in art, as well as the profiles of the artists behind them. The meetings will be illustrated with images of works of art from around the world, including, of course, the collection of the Royal Castle on Wawel.
