About the event

As part of the Niedzielanki series we invite you to an interactive concert for children and adults.

Paula Kinaszewska and the children she leads in the Wesołe Mazurki from Praga invite you to take part together in traditional games referring to spring rituals — those that accompany leaving winter and calling in spring. These rites aimed to enchant the world and recreate it after winter, when nature is dormant and the earth sleeps. We will therefore wake nature, encouraging spring to come with songs and cheerful dancing.

There will be dance games and songs with elements such as:

  • maypole
  • rooster
  • stork

Many songs will refer to returning birds, as well as hens and eggs, which for centuries have been symbols of the renewed world.

Paula Kinaszewska - musician, singer, theatre actress and leader of the bands Wowakin and Maryna C. Founder of Poland’s largest lowland Center for Traditional Music in Warsaw "Duże Mazurki" and Wesołe Mazurki from Praga. She teaches traditional music to both children and adults.
