“A Trumpet to Listen With”. The kind and deaf old woman Marion Leatherby is one day placed by her son Galahad into a nursing home. The facility called the Haven of Light is run with a firm hand by Doctor Gambit and his wife. The eccentric residents are essentially deprived of all freedoms. But the ferment of revolution grows, the old women’s revolt is inevitable. A true apocalypse is coming.
This is a surreal tale based on Leonora Carrington’s book about reclaiming freedom, presented by a traveling theatre from fragments of the old world.
“A Trumpet to Listen With” is a positive wink at old age, at the inexorably passing time that takes much away but also gives much in return.
