About the event

We invite you to participate in a free online lecture organized as part of a series promoting recommended prevention programs.



“Community-based Addiction Prevention” – promotion of recommended programs – 20 April 2026, 10:00–12:15



The lectures will be delivered by Ireneusz Siudem.

Psychologist, practitioner-scientist, psychotherapist. He is a co‑creator of the community concept of addiction prevention and the author of more than 60 scientific publications in the field of counteracting social threats, addiction prevention and psychological assistance.



He has implemented many original prevention programs; some of them have been included in the Development Strategy of the Lublin Voivodeship, including: Integrated addiction prevention systems; School prevention systems; Equalizing educational opportunities for children and youth from rural areas “My Chance”; Drugs in nightclubs; Research on the effectiveness of social advertising design in the prevention and resolution of alcohol-related problems; Program to reduce the use of psychoactive substances in the academic environment “Akademus”.

Since 1990 he has been cyclically implementing the research-and-prevention project “Community-based Addiction Prevention”. From 2004 to 2008 he was editor of the Provincial Bulletin “Social Problems” published by the Regional Centre for Social Policy of the Marshal’s Office in Lublin; he is a co‑founder of the New Forge Society. From 2002 to 2005 he served as the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Student Affairs at UMCS. From 2004 to 2006 he chaired the Municipal Team for Drug Addiction; he was a member of the Presidium of the Social Council for Counteracting Addictions and co-editor of its bulletin; he was also a member of the Provincial Team for HIV Prevention, Care for People Living with HIV and AIDS Patients and Counteracting Drug Addiction.



For his activities he was distinguished in 2001 by the President of the City of Lublin; in 2003 he received the Badge of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Poland “Meritorious Cultural Activist”; in 2004 he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit; in 2010 he received a Commemorative Medal granted by the Board of the Lublin Voivodeship for his contribution to the development of social initiatives for the region’s residents.
