INTELLECTUAL (9 X 2025 – THURSDAY) 📍 House of Literature (Krakowskie Przedmieście 87/89) 🕕 18:00 - 19:30 This evening, we want to reflect on the role Żeromski attributed to intellectuals in building social, national, and civilizational awareness. We will also examine his concept of 'intellectualism,' which he considered a culture-forming force capable of triggering profound social transformations. Participants in the meeting: - Dariusz Gawin – historian of ideas, publicist. Deputy Director of the Warsaw Uprising Museum, head of the Starzyński Institute. Head of the Department of Civil Society at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He specializes in the history of Polish political and social thought, political philosophy, and issues related to historical policy. - Agnieszka Nogal – philosopher and lawyer, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw, head of the Department of Political Philosophy. She specializes in philosophy of law and politics, biopolitics, human rights theory, and contemporary feminism. Author of the concept of human dignity – a model rooted in the tradition of Aristotle's practical rationality and Martha Nussbaum's capability approach. - Konrad Wyszkowski – philosopher, historian of philosophy, lecturer at the University of Warsaw, researcher of Polish and German thought of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the concept of norms in epistemology and philosophy of law.
