“We Read Latin American Women” is a series of discussion meetings focused on the literature of contemporary female authors from Latin America. Together with Olga Godlewska, we will explore books that are thematically or genre-related. During the fourth and final meeting, we will immerse ourselves in the world of two novels where haunted estates are not only the backdrop of events but also a living, silent force shaping the fate of the characters. We will talk about brave protagonists, ghosts of the past, and the unsettling atmosphere of Southern Gothic, where architecture hides dark secrets and history intertwines with horror. 📚 Books for the meeting: - Isabel Cañas, “The Hacienda,” translated by Ryszard Oślizło - Silvia Moreno-Garcia, “Mexican Gothic,” translated by Ryszard Oślizło Familiarity with both books is not mandatory but will facilitate active participation. The meeting is for people aged 15 and older. ✉️ Registration via email: poliglotka.bpwola.waw.pl 🔗 Or through the link: https://tinyurl.com/3tav99ww The event is funded by the Civic Budget as part of the project “On Wola, we read freely.”
