As part of the 9th edition of the From Bikiniarze to Hipsters Festival, the following will perform:
Filip Żółtowski Quartet
Filip Żółtowski Quartet mixes traditions of jazz playing with modern sounds and singable themes, also drawing from Polish folk. It is a fusion of often highly improvised jazz with electronic tones inspired by producers better known from pop or EDM scenes (e.g. Flume, Medasin), as well as hip‑hop beats in the style of James Yancey (J.Dilla). The main element uniting this genre fusion is jazz, inspired by the styles of Steve Coleman and Five Elements, Theo Crocker and Brad Mehldau.
Lineup:
The quartet debuted on the jazz scene with the album Humanity (2021), which was warmly received in Poland and abroad. The band played on major stages and festivals such as Jazz Jantar, Batch Festival, Śledź Młody Jazz, Sopot Molo Jazz and Biedowo Music Fest.
In 2024 the band's second album BiBi (Alpaka Records) was released, marking a turn toward richer electronic sounds and an acoustic‑electronic synthesis. BiBi received excellent reviews and brought the quartet to stages including True Tone Festival, Cesky Rozhlas Jazz Fest, Slot Art Festival, and clubs Jassmine and Żak. In 2025 an EP GEN-RE was released, continuing the ideas from BiBi — a free blending of genres and blurring boundaries between jazz, electronics and beat music.
Key achievements:
POKUSA
POKUSA — jazz, friendship, experiment. The band, founded in 2012, draws its sound from the uncompromising nature of free jazz, combining it with influences from electronic, experimental and hip‑hop music. The first album ZERO was released in 2013 on Casablanca Studios, the second EINZ in 2018 on LADO ABC — with that album the trio toured Germany and Belgium and performed at festivals such as OFF Festival, Jazz Jantar, Jazz nad Odrą, Inne Brzmienia and Unsound. In 2020 a cassette in the Live at Pogłos series (DREAMLAND SYNDICATE) was released. The third album D.W.A. was recorded in summer 2020 at Zolton/Morton studio and released in 2021. After a break the musicians developed projects outside the band and soon returned with new material.
