On October 11th, to celebrate World Tree Day, we invite you to a unique Dendrological Picnic 🌳 – full of attractions and activities that will allow you to explore the mysteries of trees, their history, and biology in a creative way! 📅 EVENT PROGRAM: - 10:00 -> Cruises with a view of the riparian forest (REGISTRATION REQUIRED) - 12:00 -> Official opening of the Picnic, announcement of the winner of the Warsaw Tree of the Year contest - 12:20 - 16:00 -> Dendrologist zone with experts from the Warsaw Greenery Board - 12:00 - 16:00 -> Workshop zone around Kamień: - Basket weaving workshops: Learn about the history of basket weaving in Poland and the secrets of working with wicker. You will create unique wicker items, such as leaves and trees, and learn about the biology of willows and their uses. - Seed pod creation: Create your own seed pod enclosed in a glass bottle! Learn about different tree seed species, their properties, and how to identify them under a microscope. Each participant will prepare their own seed pod to take home. - Painting wood slices: Create your unique artwork on wood slices! Learn about various tree species and how to identify their leaves. - Sculpting and tracing insect feeding sites: Discover the fascinating world of insects feeding on wood. Learn how insects affect trees, the defense mechanisms of plants, and create your own feeding sites sculpted with a chisel. - Educational materials booth: Quizzes, coloring pages, word searches, crosswords, and plenty of exhibits. Leaf impressions in clay, medallions with handmade impressions, and many facts about trees nominated in the Warsaw Tree of the Year contest. 📍 WHERE AND WHEN? One person can register for up to three people (including one adult). Registration starts on October 6th at 12:00 PM. Events take place on the ground floor or in the area around the pavilion. The building has an adapted restroom for people with disabilities, which also includes a changing table.
