Every week we meet live with artists, artistic individuals to talk about art: creative processes, works, and current experiences. Some people will appear for the first time, others have already visited the Center for Contemporary Art. In this series, we want to focus on individual attitudes and artistic practices. 🎥 Next meeting: We invite you to the Cinema at U–jazdowski, where we will screen the film "Are You Here?" directed by Xawery Deskur. After the screening, we will meet with the artist, who will talk about his research project "Foreign Feathers," carried out as part of the doctoral school at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the supervision of Dr. Jakub Wróblewski, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. Xawery Deskur works at the intersection of film, video art, photography, and sculpture, expanding the boundaries of the film medium with elements of intermedia art. His works have been presented at events such as Sundance TV Shorts (London), Greenpoint Film Festival (New York), Berlin Short Film Festival, Video Art and Experimental Shorts Film Festival (New York), as well as at festivals and artistic events in Poland, such as Artloop (Sopot), WRO Biennale (Wrocław), Narracje (Gdańsk), Etiuda & Anima, Krakow Art Salon, and ArtBoom (Krakow). Privately, he is the caretaker of Lars – a rabbit rescued from a Warsaw laboratory. 🎨 Why participate? In times of tension and crises, collective thinking and discussions about contemporary art, which responds to the challenges of the present in unconventional ways, help strengthen social resilience. Art is not just an object. Equally important are the process, thinking, emotions, and relationships. Live meetings will allow us to closely observe how art is created and, most importantly, who creates it. The events are open to everyone: to those professionally involved in culture and art, as well as to those curious about its creators. Or simply those who want to talk about art. 📅 Upcoming meetings: - 01/10 – Alicja Rogalska - 08/10 – Agnieszka Kalinowska - 15/10 – Olga Micińska Meetings are recorded for archival purposes. They are available in the Mediatheque, where interested individuals can watch them online. We aim for the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle to be accessible to everyone. To tailor the event to you and your needs, please contact our accessibility coordinator Ewa Doan: [email protected], no later than the Monday preceding the given meeting.
