About the event

Rules of the escalation campaign in the world of The Old World.

Campaign goal:
Develop your army, learn The Old World system and paint miniatures.

Army start and progression:

  • Each participant starts with a 500‑point army, built according to the rulebooks and the latest FAQs.
  • We use Battle March rules (Arcane Journal: War of Setra’s Fury) for the 500 and 750 point limits.
  • In subsequent phases we expand the army by 500 points, adding new units and heroes; unit sizes may exceed initial dimensions.
  • Armies are developed until they reach 2000 points (unless there is a will to escalate above 2000 points).

Escalation schedule:

  • Phase I (2 weeks): 500 pts (Reconnaissance)
  • Phase II (2 weeks): 750 pts (First Blood)
  • Phase III (2 weeks): 1250 pts (Skirmish)
  • Phase IV (2 weeks): 1750 pts (Battle)
  • Final: 2000 pts (Legends of the Old World)

Matches and reporting:

  • In each phase players must play at least one battle.
  • Players may play any number of battles during a phase, but CP are awarded only for the first two battles in that phase (prevents points grinding).
  • Battles are arranged in person or via the Overseer; results are reported to the Overseer, who keeps chronicles and tallies players' total CP.

Campaign points (CP):

  • After each game both players calculate the number of Victory Points (calculation rules are described on page 286 of the Warhammer: The Old World rulebook).
  • CP awards:

  • 3 CP for a crushing victory
  • 2 CP for a victory
  • 1 CP for a draw
  • 0 CP for a defeat

At the end of the campaign prizes will be distributed based on accumulated CP.

Painting and bonuses:

  • Fully painted army: +1 CP for each of the two scored games in the phase.
  • Quick Brush: post a photo of a newly painted unit from that phase on the fanpage — you receive the "Favour of the Gods" (a reroll on the casualty table).
  • "Bite the Giant" rule: if you beat someone who has more CP than you, your warriors gain a double roll on experience (Journal: Razing of Westerland).

Army list rules:

  • An army must include at least two units that are not heroes (they cannot be swarms or war beasts).
  • The army must include at least one hero who will be the General; the General cannot take more than 25% of the army points.
  • In your army list you cannot have more than:

  • 35% of points in a single Core unit
  • 30% of points in a single Special unit
  • 25% of points in a single Rare unit

Call to War (special rule for 500 and 750 pts):

  • At the 500 and 750 point stages we suspend the 0‑X restriction from 1000 points — you may field rare machines/uniques (e.g. Doom Diver, Treeman) from the first battle, provided there is only one instance of a given type in the entire army.
  • This rule does not remove the percentage limits for Rare/Special categories.

Logistics and entry fee:

  • Cost: one‑time 35 PLN (all goes to the prize pool and venue support).
  • Where: Matisoft Secundus shop, ul. Jana Kowalczyka 3, Warsaw.
  • Models: we play Games Workshop (GW) models. Alternatives only after prior approval by the Overseer. Models must be assembled and based.

Community and media:
It would be nice if each player posted on the fanpage a photo of the army they start with — we will encourage each other in painting and collecting.
Photos and videos of army progress and battle reports are welcome.
