About the event

Enthusiasts of Warsaw’s architecture, including its social aspects, will have a unique opportunity to meet Grzegorz Piątek. The author of the book “Świątynia i śmietnik. Architektura dla życia” will visit the library at ul. Gawędziarzy 8 on Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00 PM.



The meeting will be an invitation to reflect on architecture — both historic and contemporary and utilitarian — in relation to everyday human activity.



He has published, among others:



  • Starzyński. Prezydent z pomnika
  • Gdynia obiecana
  • Niezniszczalny. Bohdan Pniewski – architekt salonu i władzy
  • Najlepsze miasto świata. Warszawa w odbudowie 1944-1949
  • Sanator. Kariera Stefana Starzyńskiego


He is the recipient of numerous literary awards, including:



  • Nagroda Literacka m.st. Warszawy
  • Paszport Polityki
  • Nike Czytelników
  • Nagroda im. Kazimierza Moczarskiego
  • Nagroda im. Jerzego Giedroycia


He co-created exhibitions, including:



  • Hotel Polonia. The Afterlife of Buildings (Golden Lion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, 2008)
  • Dane warszawskie (Museum of Warsaw, 2017)


He serves as the chair of the Municipal Naming Team at the Mayor’s Office of the Capital City of Warsaw (since 2023).



The meeting will be hosted by Anna Tatarska.



Free admission.



The event is organized as part of the Civic Budget of the Capital City of Warsaw.
