    About the event

“Since they didn’t know each other before” 🎨 Vernissage: August 23, 2025, at 6:00 PM 🖼️ Exhibition open until September 19, 2025 📍 Location: SPLOT | ul. Nowolipie 18, Warsaw “They think that since they didn’t know each other before, nothing ever happened between them.” — Wisława Szymborska We invite you to the third edition of a unique artistic project at the intersection of memory, identity, and contemporary visual narratives. The exhibition “Since they didn’t know each other before” is the result of collaboration between students and lecturers from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Film School in Łódź. The creators were inspired by the moving album “And I Still See Their Faces” created by the Shalom Foundation, which collects photographs of Polish Jews—often the only traces of their lives and presence. The archival materials became a starting point for personal interpretations and contemporary reworkings of themes that, despite the passage of time, remain relevant and universal. The exhibition will feature works created using various techniques: - Photography - Installations - Video - Intermedia activities 👩‍🎨 Curators: - Paulina Buźniak - Klaudia Kiercz-Długołęcka - Natalia Sędek 👨‍🎓 Participants: Lecturers and students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Film School in Łódź: - Paulina Buźniak - Patryk Krendzelak - Jan Wnuk - Klaudia Kaźmierczak - Artemij Kopach - Mikołaj Marciniak - Ola Kubisa - Jan Suchorab - Tamara Szwedo - Radosław Kostusiak - Magdalena Jakubowska - Broyek Marek - Karolina Gawlak-Homernik - Olga Goworek - Patrycja Łukasik - Natalia Mikołajczyk - Wiktoria Różaniecka - Klaudia Kiercz-Długołęcka The event is part of the 22nd Warsaw Singer Jewish Culture Festival—a celebration of art, memory, and dialogue, organized by the Shalom Foundation. 👥 Organizers: - Ryszard Winiarski Institute of Media Arts - Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw - Wola Cultural Center - Warsaw Singer Festival 📖 More information: https://ismrw.com/wystawa-skoro-nie-znali-sie-wczesniej
