It was here, 300 years ago, that the first successful firing of porcelain in Europe took place, which was called the "white gold." At the end of the 9th century, among other things, a fortress was built here to protect trade routes. Albrechtsburg Castle, today considered the first residential castle in Germany, is also an inseparable part of Meissen's panorama. Thanks to the Saxon electors, Meissen and Warsaw are united by a common crown. During the reign of Augustus the Strong, the famous porcelain manufactory was established, where "white gold" with the symbol of blue crossed swords is still produced today. We will be enchanted by Meissen's historic old town, located at the foot of the castle hill. Around the late-Gothic town hall, we will discover atmospheric courtyards and streets filled with the scent of the Christmas market.
