Colorful queer art festival, workshops, showcases, and networking

Join us for a full-day celebration of queer art and community! This year’s festival theme is “Queertopia” - an imagined space of queer freedom, coexistence, and the creation of new worlds. 🎉 Admission to all events is free. To participate in workshops, please register online (separately for each workshop). FESTIVAL PROGRAM - 11:00 – 12:30 | Introduction to Ballroom Culture and Voguing (movement workshop) Led by: Madlen Revlon An introductory workshop into ballroom culture - its history, values, and iconic categories. You will learn the basics of European Runway and elements of Vogue Fem (including catwalk, duckwalk, hands performance, floor performance, dip & spin). Open to everyone - registration required (link to be shared soon). - 13:00 – 14:30 | Queer & Voice (vocal workshop) Led by: Zhenya Velko Does the voice have a gender? What makes us perceive a voice as “female” or “male”? During the workshop, we will explore the full spectrum of vocal possibilities, without trying to “correct” it. Open to everyone - registration required (link to be shared soon). - 16:00 – 16:15 | “There because we care” (documentary film) Marcella Poroszanka A documentary film created during international training as part of the Youth Queerators project. In its short form, the author shows subtle manifestations of visual activism and reclaiming urban space. - 16:30 – 16:45 | “Walking Dream” (fashion show) PAPROCH - Maciej Pracz Fashion without divisions. PAPROCH creates from upcycled fabrics, combining lightness with darkness, and emotions with form. The Walking Dream collection materializes states that cannot be expressed in words — full of freedom, expression, and nonbinary sensitivity. - 17:30 – 18:45 | “Colors of Queerness” (immersive workshop showcase) Queer & Art - Youth Queerators performance group An interdisciplinary showcase of workshop work, being the finale of the collective’s creative process. Artists take over the Dom w Alejach space and queer reality in various ways, creating a coherent, emotional story about identity and being oneself. - 19:30–20:30 | “Do Domu” (concert) Szczepan Czaplewski "Do domu" is a story about healing. Songs created over eight years capture several moments on the path to adulthood, discovering and accepting one’s otherness and sensitivity. With acoustic accompaniment, the author invites you to experience this journey home together, even if we do not yet know where it truly leads. EXHIBITIONS AND ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE DAY: - INTERFERENCE / The Space Between Us - projection Dan Ozeri & Wiktor Klimaszewski A video installation combining the rigor of classical technique with the raw energy of street dance into a fluid, contemporary form of expression. Designed as a seamless loop, the work is a visual meditation on closeness, identity, and the embodied mind, transcending the physical limitations of traditional performance. - “Queer Mourning After Losing Heterosexuality” - exhibition Author: Ewa Dąbkowska A series inspired by the contradictory relationship of non-heteronormative people with the Church. The author uses both Christian and queer symbolism, building an inclusive language of meanings and a space for conversation and empathy. - Community Chronicle - portrait station Cyprian Rubeńczyk / komizm The artist will create a chronicle of the festival by portraying participants in the form of drawings or photographs. Each portrait becomes part of a shared queer story about community. - Networking Space During breaks between performances, in addition to viewing visual works, you can also talk to artists in the Networking Corner. There will be materials and tools to help make connections, even for the shyest. This event is part of a KA2 small-scale partnership co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, administered in Latvia by @jspa_latvia. It’s a collaboration between @active_rainbow and @poprostudasie
