Cyklokosmos is a look at the bicycle as an organism, an insight into its structure like X-rays scanning a living body. Exploration and contemplation of objects, usually seen in the context of a complex mechanism, and exposing them as separate entities. Analysis and study of particles on a macro scale. Objects, when separated from the construction, turn out to have sophisticated forms, fascinatingly reminiscent of tropical plants, insects, internal organs, or mysterious bodies drifting in cosmic space. Maria Mencwel – Born in 1999, completed her master's studies in 2024 at the Faculty of Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Artist, designer, writer. Her creative activity is interdisciplinary; from graphics, painting, and all forms of visual arts to film, music, and literature. She has exhibited her works in Poland and abroad, including outside Europe. Finalist of the literary competition at the Góry Literatury Festival (Olga Tokarczuk Foundation, 2022). Winner of the gold medal in the thematic competition at the 28th International Poster Biennale in Warsaw (2023). Her artistic practice is based on careful observation of her own and others' lives and recording what is most beautiful in them. Creativity is for her a form of insightful analysis and tender contemplation of reality. 🌍 The outdoor velodrome gallery gTOR operates at the intersection of Kamionek and Grochów. It is a grassroots initiative utilizing the existing architectural fabric of the closed Orzeł — Nowe Dynasy cycling track. gTOR presents works emerging from the field of cyclography — (cyclist, formerly cyclist, bicyclist; gráphō from Greek to write, draw) «a field of graphics encompassing works on cycling themes. Created using any technique and reproduced on any substrate». The curator of the TOR gallery is Kwiaciarnia Grafiki. gTOR is an artivist outpost of the Nowe Dynasy Initiative, which fights to open the Nowe Dynasy area for Warsaw residents. The role of monofunctional objects is past. We believe that Nowe Dynasy can become a multifaceted, democratic space where art and recreation can inspire neighborhood life simultaneously. Activities at gTOR are just an example that the cycling track area does not have to serve only cycling!
