About the event

The Modern History Section of the UW Student Historians’ Circle warmly invites you to a joint outing to an open lecture titled “Frederick II the Great and the European political system – a new perspective.” The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Hans-Jürgen Bömelburg. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn how contemporary historiography assesses the figure of the “philosopher-king” and his influence on 18th-century European politics and relations with Poland.

The event is organized by the Museum of Polish History to commemorate Prof. Antoni Mączak — an outstanding modern historian, mentor to many generations of historians and longtime director of the UW Institute of History.

Schedule and meeting point:

  • 17:20 – Meeting at the Main Gate of UW (Krakowskie Przedmieście). We will head together to the Museum of Polish History.
  • 18:00 – Start of the lecture at the MHP.

Important information:

  • Admission to the event is free, but it is required to obtain a free ticket.
