About the event
Can a hole in a sweater become an ornament?
At these workshops, children will discover that repairing clothes can be creative, colorful and very satisfying!
During the class participants:
- learn basic English vocabulary related to materials and techniques
- receive knitwear with holes, worn areas and imperfections
- learn simple hand-sewing techniques
- repair fabrics in a creative and artistic way, creating colorful patterns and details
The workshops:
- teach the idea of reuse and caring for belongings
- develop patience and concentration
- strengthen manual dexterity
- show that imperfection can be an asset
You can come to the workshop with your own torn garment (preferably a knitted sweater, sweatshirt, hat, scarf), but it is not required. Everyone will receive an item to work on.
Each child will take home their own hand-repaired, unique knit item!
