
On Friday, February 6, 2026, at 7:00 PM we invite you to a concert by one of the most promising pianists and composers of the young Polish jazz scene. The Karol Malczewski Trio will present material from the debut album “Ico”, featuring original, lyrical compositions. It will be contemporary jazz based on improvisation and dialogue between the musicians.
“The record was recorded in Hall S4 of Polish Radio Studio in December 2024. It contains six original compositions that are, for me, above all a nostalgic journey — a return to the emotions that shaped my current life and the place where I currently am,” says the leader.
Karol Malczewski is a pianist and composer of the younger generation from Olsztyn, a graduate of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in Krzysztof Dys’s class and the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków in the jazz piano program in Dominik Wania’s class. In his playing he strives to combine classical music with jazz form. He is inspired by traditional jazz styles such as Lennie Tristano as well as classical composers like Alexander Scriabin. Winner of the Grand Prix at the international Olimpico Jazz Contest 2024 with an additional composition award, Grand Prix at the nationwide Mieczysław Kosz jazz pianists’ auditions and at the Nationwide Feliks Nowowiejski Piano Competition, finalist of Novum Jazz Festival – New Hope of Jazz, distinction at the Blue Note Jazz Competition 2024. An active musician performing in Poland and abroad, he has collaborated with the Warmia and Mazury Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and shared the stage with artists such as Kasia Moś, Igor Herbut, Adam Sztaba and Nikola Kołodziejczyk.
Filip Botor is a double bassist and bass guitarist of the younger generation, and a composer. Fascinated by the intersection of traditions and streams, timbre and musical texture. Recipient of ensemble awards: Grand Prix Jazz nad Odrą 2023, Main Prize of the Bielska Zadymka Jazz Festival 2023, 2nd prize at the Jazz Juniors Competition 2023. Active on the Polish and European scene, he has shared the stage with artists such as Grzegorz Nagórski, Kuba Więcek, Mateusz Pospieszalski, Joanna Duda, Grzegorz Karnas, Elchin Shirinov, Sam Levin. He has performed in Oslo, Athens, Brussels and Budapest. Member of bands: Product May Contain, Karol Malczewski Trio, Know Material, Nasz Garaż, Isomer In Flux, RGFX.
Tymoteusz Huget is a drummer from Katowice, a graduate of the Academy of Music in Kraków, currently a student at the Academy of Music in Katowice in the Jazz department. In his playing he places the greatest emphasis on sound and using the widest possible palette of colors from the instrument. Winner of national and international competitions: Grand Prix Ladies Jazz Festival 2023, first prize in the U25 category of 7 Virtual Jazz Club, 2nd place at Jazz Water Meetings. An active musician performing in Poland and abroad, he has collaborated on stage with artists such as Kasia Moś, Paktofonika, Adam Sztaba, Nikola Kołodziejczyk, Javier Girotto and Jules Buckley. He has performed in Brno, Milan, Bologna and Luxembourg. Currently collaborating with bands: Quietet, The Ancimons, Paktofonika Live Band, Karol Malczewski Trio.
