Workshop of short, improvised musical games

These are workshops full of short, dynamic improvised musical games, in which a song is created faster than you can think “do I even know how to sing”.

We work with well‑known and loved formats (such as Irish Drinking Song or Bartender), but also with less obvious games that trigger creativity, humour and spontaneity.

What we will do:

• learn the rules of short improvised musical games
• discover comic mechanisms that make a song “work”
• learn how to sing improvised songs without stress and forcing the voice
• find out how to respond musically here and now
• jam together — in a safe, supportive atmosphere

Important:

You don’t need to be an improvisation master or a singing virtuoso.

These workshops are meant to:

• have fun
• experiment
• discover the world of musical improvisation
• and allow yourself to sound — even if “you don’t know how yet”

Leaders:

Beata Całka – vocal coach. She is completing a two‑year level II trainer certification at the Modern Vocal Training Institute based in Malaga. She completed trainer training with Krzysztof Wojciechowski and an introduction to Estill Voice Training. Her work is based on current scientific knowledge in vocology, contemporary understanding of the voice, and an approach to it as a psychosomatic instrument connecting body, emotions and the nervous system. She completed trainings in nervous system regulation and psychosomatics, which form an important foundation of her developmental‑vocal work. For years she regularly leads workshops on singing improvised songs, guesting e.g. at the Otwock Comedy Festival and the Warsaw FIK Festival. She organises Impro Music Jams where anyone can try improvised singing on stage. Besides working with the voice she also teaches guitar and ukulele.

Stanisław Rekosz - pianist - improviser. He cooperates with improv groups: Sto Piosenek na Godzinę, The Cichulsky and Creep, Dobrzy, Źli i Śmieszni, Fabryka Piosenek, I’mpro Impro and others. He has performed at festivals in Barcelona, Kraków and Toruń. He creates music for films and plays, composes and improvises with exceptional sensitivity.
