In January this year the report "Poor chances... I CHECK!" was published — a study on the presence of women at state art universities 2025. The work refers to a project carried out ten years earlier: Poor chances for promotion? One striking difference between 2015 and 2025 is the increase in erotic proposals and unwanted sexual situations initiated by staff toward female students.
This depressing and surprising observation — especially in light of growing social awareness and contemporary equality discourse — becomes the starting point for a discussion devoted to all forms of violations and violence identified in the study, experienced by women employed and studying at art schools in Poland.
The discussion will cover various levels of these experiences: structural and institutional, symbolic, linguistic, emotional and relational, and sexual. The panel will include participants with diverse backgrounds, allowing the issue to be viewed from multiple perspectives: sociological, legal, psychological and empirical.
The aim of the meeting is to provoke a broader discussion leading to change. Let’s make it so there is nothing to return to in ten years' time.
