We invite you to the second meeting in the series “Judaism in Practice: everything we weren't taught at home,” whose main topic — denominations — will be presented by Rabbi Małgorzata Kordowicz.
“Judaism in Practice” is a series of monthly, themed conversations creating a safe and open space for asking questions, organizing knowledge, and becoming familiar with Jewish practices and concepts — without a lecturing tone and without pressure.
This time we will look at the denominations of Judaism: how Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Judaism differ, where these divisions came from and what they mean for everyday religious practice. We will discuss the impact of denominations on prayer, halacha, the role of women and the approach to tradition and modernity, and we will also consider where one can find themselves within all this.
The meeting will be led by Rabbi Małgorzata Kordowicz — a Hebrew scholar, educator and the first Polish rabbi (JTS in New York). She graduated from the Department of Hebrew Studies at the University of Warsaw, has many years of experience teaching Hebrew and is the author of publications and educational materials related to Jewish culture and language.
The meeting is open to everyone — regardless of level of knowledge, identity path or prior experience. If you want to better understand Jewish diversity and feel more “at home” within it, this meeting is for you.
